We are seeking a Ph D student and a postdoc to join our team at The Department of Genomic Medicine, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen.

The positions will be part of the Danish Childhood Cancer Initiative, and the focus will be on identification of causative effects of rare mutations and aberrant gene expression patterns in paediatric cancers through advanced bioinformatics approaches.

The task is to conduct research on representation learning for the identification of common patterns among patients with rare paediatric cancers while addressing challenges related to data availability, shareability, and interpretability.

The work will build on our framework for learning regulatory modules in autoencoders and extend to predict effects of aberrant gene expression on new data.

Eventually the transcriptome models should also incorporate genomics data for patient-to-variant group deconvolution.

The position will contribute to the international Ped Can Portal project (,and help to implement federated learning techniques to learn across multiple data containers without direct data sharing.

Education: Ph D student: master’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proven experience in AI or explainable machine learning is a plus.

Post Doc: A Ph D in computational biology with proven experience in representation learning.

Prerequisites: - Strong programming skills in Python.
